ASN - Application Support Network
The Application Support Network (ASN) pillar consists of experts at participating universities that assist researchers in exploiting HPC platforms. Application support experts have dual roles. On the one hand, they are personal points of contacts for existing and new HPC users at their home institutions. As such they are in a service role that is usually provided by institutional and departmental IT organizations. On the other hand, they will are anchored in one or more of the ongoing community code developments, where they participate in the HPC parts for the projects. These experts will receive continued training in emerging architecture and programming models from CSCS.
In order to prepare the establishment of this infrastructure, five community network development are already being supported until June 2013 by HP2C; these networks are expected to play a central role in the preparation of proposals to the present call; they cover the following domains:
